Supporting street children in Pakistan

Forgotten, alone, and on the streets. Children living on the streets in Pakistan struggle to avoid exploitation and abuse. It’s impossible to have a childhood without someone to protect you. Support our Aminah drop-in centre, and provide street children with healthcare, psychosocial support, a safe space, food, and skill development.

“Whoever does not show mercy to our young ones, or acknowledge the rights of our elders, is not one of us.” (Ahmad)

$1,100 - Change the life of a street child by providing food, a safe space, healthcare, counselling, and skill development, giving them a way out of abuse and exploitation.

No home, no education, no protection

A child on the street isn’t just struggling for food - they’re continuously at risk of exploitation, abuse, and unable to receive an education to improve their future.

An estimated 1.5 million children live on the streets in Pakistan. Many have been abandoned or are escaping violence, but some come from families that are so vulnerable that they’ve been forced onto the street.

After the flooding of 2022, they face the added hardship of surviving on streets that faced the worst flooding in decades. Floodwaters still haven’t receded in places.

It is the right of all children to expect mercy, kindness and care from Muslims, and it’s our duty to protect them from harm. When you support our drop-in center in Lahore, you’ll help to give street children a safe space, food, and healthcare to meet their short-term needs, as well as counselling and skill development so that they can build confidence, and have brighter futures. Change starts with you.

This project is Zakat-applicable and you can calculate what you owe with our easy-to-use Zakat calculator.

A generation of change, a brighter tomorrow

With your help, we want to support a total of 1,000 street children for the next year, providing them with:

  • essential health services, such as check-ups, medicine, and tests,
  • counselling and child protection awareness sessions.

We’ll also provide:

  • 250 children will receive daily nourishing meals
  • 100 children will receive skill development and education classes, such as reading, writing, and math, and help enrolling in a school.
  • young adults with referrals to training institutes to help them learn technical skills and to have a vocation in adulthood.

Why donate through Human Appeal?

Last year, we helped a total of 3,843,279 people, including 1,656,490 people in Pakistan through our flood response, as well as projects that provided sustainable clean water, livelihood training, education, solar-powered electricity, and food security.

You can change the life of an extremely vulnerable child, and reap the multiplied blessings of the holy month.

Be a mercy. Donate.
