In Gaza, 745,000 children are currently out of school. Most have not set foot inside a real classroom in over two years. Your donation keeps our mobile tent schools open, giving children back their safety, their routine, and their chance to learn.
An Education System Destroyed
Before the crisis, Gaza boasted one of the highest literacy rates in the entire Arab world. Today, 95% of its schools and universities lie damaged or destroyed. Over 20,000 school-aged children have lost their lives, along with more than 830 dedicated teachers. The few school buildings still standing are no longer places of learning: they are overcrowded shelters, storage spaces, or structural ruins.
For the young survivors, the loss of school is far more than an academic setback. It is the loss of daily structure, safety, and the basic feeling that there is a future worth preparing for. This isn't just an educational emergency; it is an entire childhood placed on pause.
32 Schools That Move When Families Are Forced to Move
When permanent buildings no longer exist, learning must adapt. Human Appeal's mobile tent schools do what traditional schools can no longer do: they follow the children wherever displacement takes them.
Currently, 32 mobile schools are active across Gaza. Each shelter is fully weatherproof, firmly anchored to the ground, and set up right in the heart of high-density displacement camps.
Healing the Mind Alongside the Curriculum
In a place where every child carries deep emotional scars, sitting down to study requires more than just paper and pencils.
Working side-by-side with our teachers, qualified local trauma counsellors lead specialized group sessions and creative therapeutic activities inside every mobile school. This gives children a safe, compassionate space to process what they have endured, express their feelings, and find comfort among friends.
Emotional healing isn't an optional add-on; it is the essential foundation that allows a child's mind to open up to learning again.
Be the Reason a Child Steps Into a Classroom Today
Somewhere in Gaza right now, a young child is walking through a displacement camp toward a makeshift tent. They know their teacher's name. They have a place to sit. They have books to open and a lesson to look forward to.
That child is sitting in that tent because a donor cared enough to help build it.
Your support keeps the school standing, keeps local teachers employed, and ensures dedicated counsellors remain by their side.
Human Appeal's mobile schools are fully weatherproof, heavy-duty tent classrooms anchored directly within Gaza's displacement camps. Currently, 32 mobile schools operate six days a week, delivering core lessons in Arabic, English, Mathematics, and Science to children under 10 who have been deprived of formal schooling.
All classes are taught by experienced local Gaza educators who lost their own homes and schools to the conflict. They deliver a structured four-hour daily curriculum, accompanied by qualified counsellors who integrate mental health support into every school day.
Every child attending our mobile schools has lived through intense trauma, loss, and displacement. Academic progress is impossible if a child feels unsafe or overwhelmed. Having dedicated counsellors on-site helps children heal, process grief, and rebuild trust in a nurturing group setting.
Our 32 mobile schools currently serve 2,400 children across Gaza's displacement hubs, with ongoing expansion efforts underway as access opens up.
