Every donation needs a system behind it to actually reach someone in need. The Admin Fund covers two different costs that make that possible: running our programs and raising the money to fund them.
Here’s exactly where it goes.
Management & Administration – 19.68% This is the cost of delivering our work safely and properly: engineers who build safe water systems, protection officers who keep field teams secure, and the finance and compliance systems that track every dollar and report it to the CRA. Without this, a water well is just a hole in the ground.
Fundraising – 10.14% This is the cost of raising the money in the first place, the campaigns, communications, and outreach that bring donations in. Every dollar spent here returns significantly more, which means it directly grows what we’re able to give.
Is This Islamically Permissible? Yes, the Quran names those who work to collect and distribute charity as legitimate recipients of it:
“Alms-tax is only for the poor and the needy, for those employed to administer it, for those whose hearts are attracted ˹to the faith˺, for ˹freeing˺ slaves, for those in debt, for Allah’s cause, and for ˹needy˺ travellers. ˹This is˺ an obligation from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.” – Quran 9:60
A water well needs an engineer. A food parcel needs logistics. The people who plan, deliver, and protect these projects aren’t separate from your charity, they’re how it reaches anyone at all.
