Clean Water and Infrastructure Rehabilitation
In Yemen, finding a single drop of safe drinking water has become an everyday battle for survival.
When a Sip of Water Can Be Fatal
Children and vulnerable families bear the heaviest burden of Yemen's water crisis. In a place where hospitals have almost entirely stopped functioning, getting sick from dirty water is no longer just a hardship—it can easily be fatal. Mothers are forced to watch their children suffer from preventable illnesses simply because there isn't a single safe drop of water available to keep them hydrated and clean.
This heartbreaking reality is unfolding across a country that was already struggling with severe droughts and drying wells before the conflict even started. A decade of war has completely destroyed what was left. Across rural areas, water pipelines have been smashed, water sources contaminated, and systems left broken, leaving entire communities stranded without any way to get clean water.
In the hard-hit region of Taiz, only 29% of people have access to safe water. Families in the Al-Daboua neighbourhood depend almost entirely on charity water trucks, but those trucks can only bring in 15% of what the community actually needs to survive. Over 50,000 displaced people across the country are stuck relying on these trucks every single day, with absolutely no permanent water pipes to fall back on.
Rebuilding Systems That Last for Years
Human Appeal Canada's Yemen Water Fund looks past short-term fixes. We are focusing on fixing the root of the problem so families can have their dignity and health restored for the long haul.
Bringing a Community Back to Life: Your support helps repair the broken and contaminated water networks in Al-Daboua, bringing continuous, clean water straight back to 3,500 people.
Real, Lasting Infrastructure: This isn't a temporary patch. Your donation goes toward fully repairing broken pipelines, cleaning up water sources, and setting up a system that will serve these families for years to come.
Led by Local Teams: Our projects are run by local staff who live there. They know the families, understand the terrain, and ensure your support goes exactly where it is needed most.
A Gift That Carries Your Name
When you support the Yemen Water Fund, your name—or the name of a loved one—will be placed on a permanent plaque at the water site in Al-Daboua. It stands as a lasting mark of mercy for a community that will benefit from your kindness for generations.
Long after you are gone, families in Al-Daboua will drink clean, fresh water because of your choice to help today. Every single drop they drink becomes a continuous blessing on your behalf.
Give Clean Water and Hope to Yemen Today
This is an open fund with no minimum donation and no fixed amount. Every dollar you give goes directly toward the tools, parts, and labour needed to rebuild the Al-Daboua water network. You can give a one-time gift or set up a monthly donation to keep this life-saving work moving forward across the year.
"The best charity is giving water to drink."
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
The fund pays for the physical repair and cleanup of broken water networks in Al-Daboua, Yemen. This project restores reliable, long-term access to clean drinking water for a neighbourhood of 3,500 people.
Ten years of war have completely ruined rural water networks. In Taiz, only 29% of people have safe water, and in Al-Daboua, water trucks only cover a tiny fraction of what families need. Combined with severe droughts, families have no choice but to use unsafe water sources.
Because this is an open fund, contributions are pooled together to handle the total cost of rebuilding the Al-Daboua network. This includes fixing broken pipes, treating dirty water sources, and installing the layout needed to get water flowing back to households.
To honour your ongoing charity, your name or the name of a loved one will be placed on a permanent plaque at the project site. It serves as a beautiful record of the continuous charity you have provided.
