This Ramadan, hundreds of thousands of people have been uprooted by conflict in Lebanon, many sleeping in cars, on roadsides, or packed into makeshift shelters in converted schools and public buildings.
The latest airstrikes have only deepened an already devastating humanitarian crisis. Beneath this lies an economy that has been hollowing out since 2019; inflation hovers around 15%, and food prices have climbed even faster, squeezing households that were already on the edge. Rental costs are climbing, jobs are scarcer, and basic services like water, electricity, and healthcare are stretched well past their limits.

Lebanon was already one of the most fragile countries in the world before this latest escalation. Years of compounding crises — economic collapse, displacement, and repeated waves of conflict have left millions unable to meet their most basic needs. For displaced families with nothing left, this Ramadan carries a weight that is almost impossible to describe.
Over 4,400 killed and 1.2 million people impacted since hostilities began — and as tens of thousands remain displaced, the latest airstrikes have once again uprooted families with nowhere left to go — Lebanon's crisis is devastating and growing.
