Right now, 153 million children across the globe are orphans, and around 5,700 more are orphaned every single day. In any community, orphans are always one of the most vulnerable groups, often facing hunger, disease, exploitation and extreme cycles of poverty that they need help to break out of.
In our ummah, it’s our duty to support orphaned children. When you sponsor an orphan, you’ll help that child to break the cycle, and give them the opportunity that all children deserve – a chance to be healthy, protected, and educated.

$900 a year helps to cover the cost of food, shelter, clothes, healthcare and learning materials. That’s just $2.50 per day!
With soaring food costs and the lives lost during conflict, climate change, and the pandemic, orphaned children are facing more insecurity than ever, and we urgently need more sponsors for over 6,000 vulnerable orphans who are registered with us and waiting for someone to help them.
You can choose where you sponsor a child, as well as their age and gender – or you can leave it to our Orphan and Child Welfare Team to select the child in the most urgent need of sponsorship. It takes just a few minutes to register, and to change a child’s life.

Why sponsor through Human Appeal?
We’ve been helping supporters to sponsor orphans for 30 years. Currently, our supporters are sponsoring over 22,000 orphans across nine countries. We’ve witnessed how one sponsorship can change a whole future, and we’ve developed a program that puts the child’s needs first.
In order to qualify for child sponsorship, an orphaned child must remain in school, which safeguards their right to an education and a future, and helps to give them the tools to support themselves once they become young adults in the world. We also provide training to their mothers or caregivers about protection, helping to safeguard them from common risks and dangers.
Sponsoring an orphan is one of the most blessed and rewarding acts a Muslim can do. The Messenger (PBUH) promised to be close in heaven to the one who cares for an orphan:
“Whoever embraces an orphan of two Muslim parents by feeding him and giving him drink until he is independent of him, Paradise will certainly be necessary for him.” (Malik ibn Al-Harith)
Sponsoring an orphan is a beautiful Sadaqah Jariyah; the safety, knowledge and health that you provide an orphan with will benefit them for the rest of their lives, and bring blessings upon you too!

What to expect when you sponsor an orphan
As soon as you sign up to be a sponsor, we’ll send you an electronic welcome pack with a photo of the child you’re sponsoring and their story, which you should receive within 14 days. This is just the start of your journey together.
You will start receiving annual handwritten messages and/or drawings from your child, telling you about their daily life, interests, milestones and achievements. You will also receive detailed updates from our local staff who work in their community, so you can watch the child you sponsor and thrive year after year.

In the event we complete the program, exceed the required funds, or are denied access to a particular country for reasons beyond our control, Human Appeal reserves the right to reallocate your donation to another program where it is needed most.
