Rebuild Hope Through Education
School Rehabilitation: Where Most Needed · Sudan and Gaza
A school is so much more than four walls and a roof. For a child living through war and displacement, it is the centre of their universe: a safe haven where the day has structure, where laughter is allowed, and where the future feels like something to look forward to. In Sudan and Gaza, hundreds of these sanctuaries have been damaged, destroyed, or turned into emergency shelters. Your donation gives children back their space to learn, grow, and just be children again.
Rebuild a School. Restore a Future.
The collapse of educational infrastructure across both regions has created one of the most severe learning crises in modern history.
In Gaza: Satellite assessments from the UN indicate that nearly 93% of all school buildings have sustained damage or been destroyed, with over 80% suffering direct hits. For 658,000 school-aged children, classrooms have been replaced by temporary tents pitched in displacement camps, or by ruined buildings with no desks, books, or doors.
In Sudan: Over 50% of schools across the country remain closed or damaged, with many serving as informal shelters for families fleeing violence. More than 13 million children are currently locked out of education, risking years of lost potential.
Where permanent structures cannot yet be restored in Gaza, Human Appeal sets up temporary learning spaces inside displacement camps. In Sudan, we repair damaged classrooms, replace broken roofs, and restore clean water and sanitation.
For children in both countries, the fundamental need is identical: a clean, safe room to walk into every morning, and a community that believes in their future.
More Than Four Walls
Human Appeal's Back to School 2026 initiative directly supports four schools across Sudan and Gaza: two in Sudan (one boys' school and one girls' school) and two learning spaces in Gaza.
Every child who steps through the doors receives a complete back-to-school package, ensuring no family has to choose between buying bread or buying a uniform.
What We Rebuild Together:
The Difference a Safe School Makes
When you help repair a school, you aren't just buying concrete and desks. You are changing what tomorrow looks like for an entire community:
Give Today. Rebuild Tomorrow.
"Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim." - Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
This is an open fund that is Zakat eligible. Your contribution goes directly toward repairing structures and providing essential learning kits for students across Sudan and Gaza.
Whether you give a single gift today or set up a recurring monthly donation, you are helping fulfill that sacred right to learn for children who have had everything else taken from them.
Our 2026 school rehabilitation initiative supports four primary learning hubs across Sudan and Gaza. We repair and renovate damaged school buildings in Sudan, establish safe, temporary learning spaces in Gaza's displacement camps, and equip every enrolled student with a complete kit containing a school bag, uniform, shoes, and learning supplies.
Both countries are facing unprecedented educational crises caused by conflict. In Gaza, nearly 93% of school buildings need significant repairs or total rebuilding. In Sudan, over half of all schools are closed or damaged, leaving millions of children without access to a classroom.
Our local teams continuously evaluate safety, material access, and ground conditions in both regions. Your gift is deployed where our teams can immediately clear hurdles and deliver tangible repairs or supplies without delay.
The initial phase focuses on four key centres: two schools in Sudan (one for boys and one for girls) and two designated learning spaces in Gaza.
Yes. Human Appeal manages Zakat through strictly segregated accounts, and 100% of your Zakat donation goes directly to beneficiaries on the ground with zero administrative deductions. Restoring schools for displaced and impoverished children is a fully valid use of Zakat.
