The quake hit at 7:37 AM on the first day of school, turning what should have been a joyful milestone into a moment of fear. Families ran for their lives as buildings collapsed, debris fell, and landslides struck.
More than 346,000 people have been affected. Today, many are sheltering in overcrowded evacuation centers or unsafe open spaces, with aftershocks continuing to shake the region.
In hard-hit areas like Sultan Kudarat, the devastation has led to a severe humanitarian crisis. Clean water systems are damaged, power is down, and medical facilities are overwhelmed. Families are struggling to meet even their most basic needs.
