Direct and Sustainable Hunger Relief in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan
A single loaf of bread: less than a dollar to produce, yet enough to feed a family for a day.
In Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan, millions of families wake up unsure if they will have a meal. Even bread, the most basic staple for human survival, is out of reach for families living through famine, conflict, and economic collapse.
When you give today, your donation reaches the people who need it most. It becomes a loaf of bread for a child who went to bed hungry. It becomes daily nutrition for a mother who has nothing left to give her family. It becomes a community bakery that creates jobs, sustains livelihoods, and keeps families fed long after the emergency has passed.
Four Countries. One Devastating Reality
Across four countries, the scale of hunger is catastrophic.
Gaza — 2.3 million people facing famine and starvation. Status: Critical.
Syria — 16.7 million people in need after a decade of prolonged conflict. Status: Severe.
Lebanon — 3 million people unable to meet basic food needs amid economic collapse. Status: Escalating.
Sudan — 14 million people facing active conflict and famine simultaneously. Status: Critical.
In all four countries, bread is not a luxury. It is the foundation of every meal. When families cannot afford it, children go hungry, malnutrition spreads, and communities begin to collapse.
Bread of Hope Initiative - A Proven Model
Human Appeal Canada is establishing community bakery operations across Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan. These operations will produce fresh bread locally to address immediate hunger while building long-term food security that continues beyond the emergency phase. This is not a temporary food parcel. It is a sustainable model built on a proven foundation. In Sudan alone, our existing bakery project in Khartoum has already distributed over 157,000 loaves of fresh bread, reaching 1,700 vulnerable people every single day. Bread of Hope scales that model across four critical regions.
A single loaf of bread costs less than a dollar to produce, yet it can feed a family for a day. This is the most cost-effective form of nutrition we can provide.

Be the Reason a Family Eats Tomorrow
Somewhere in Gaza, a family is hoping for bread. In Syria, a child is going to school hungry. In Lebanon, a mother is calculating whether the little she has will stretch to feed everyone. In Sudan, a community is surviving on whatever it can find.
Your donation to Bread of Hope changes that. It's not just one meal; it provides nourishment every day.
Bread of Hope is a Human Appeal Canada initiative to establish and sustain community bakery operations across Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan, providing daily nutrition to vulnerable families while creating local employment and long-term food security infrastructure.
Bread is the most affordable and culturally significant source of nutrition in all four target countries. A single loaf costs less than a dollar to produce and can feed a family for a day, making it the most cost-effective form of nutrition Human Appeal can deliver at scale.
Yes. Human Appeal has already distributed over 157,000 loaves through a successful bakery project in Khartoum, Sudan, reaching approximately 1,700 vulnerable people daily. Bread of Hope builds and expands that proven model.
Distributions are prioritised for the most vulnerable families, including children, women, the elderly, and those facing the sharpest end of food insecurity in each target country.
Human Appeal is committed to providing aid in the country or program that you select. In the event we complete the program, exceed the required funds, or are denied access to a particular country for reasons beyond our control, Human Appeal reserves the right to reallocate your donation to another program where it is needed most.
