Sudan Qurbani Appeal: A Lifeline in the Midst of Crisis
Sudan is currently facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world. Since the outbreak of war in April 2023, the country has been torn apart by violent conflict, forcing millions of families to flee their homes and leaving entire communities without access to food, water, or basic healthcare.
Today, more than 30 million people, over two-thirds of the population, are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. An estimated [11.5 million / 14 million — confirm figure] people have been displaced, making Sudan the largest displacement crisis globally. At the same time, hunger has reached catastrophic levels, with over 21 million people facing acute food insecurity and many areas already experiencing famine.
Families who once lived with dignity are now struggling to survive. Markets have collapsed, farms have been destroyed, and food supplies are either unavailable or unaffordable. In some regions, aid is blocked or extremely limited, leaving vulnerable communities, especially children, at risk of severe malnutrition and starvation.
The impact on children is especially devastating. Millions are growing up in displacement camps or conflict zones, without enough food to eat, and facing life-threatening diseases due to weakened immune systems.
Why Your Qurbani Matters In these desperate conditions, your Qurbani is more than a religious obligation. It is a lifeline.
For many families in Sudan, Qurbani meat may be the only nutritious meal they receive all year. It provides essential protein to children and adults who have gone weeks or even months without proper nourishment.
Your sacrifice can:
Delivering Hope on Eid
This Eid al-Adha, Human Appeal Canada is delivering fresh Qurbani meat directly to the most vulnerable families across Sudan. With your support, we can reach those who need it most: families trapped in conflict zones, displaced communities, and those living on the brink of starvation.
At a time when Sudan is being overlooked by the world, your generosity can remind its people that they are not forgotten.
Give your Qurbani today. Feed a family. Save a life.
Our 2025 Qurbani Impact in Sudan
Last Dhul Hijjah, Human Appeal reached over 183,800 people with Qurbani meat in Sudan, delivered into one of the most difficult operating environments in our global program. Conflict-affected roads, security constraints, and shifting displacement camps make distribution in Sudan a genuine logistical challenge. Our teams carried it out anyway, because no crisis should mean no Eid.
Globally, 1.17 million people were reached across 41 countries. Your Qurbani in 2026 continues that work where it is needed most.

When the Messenger (PBUH) was asked what Qurbani is, he answered, “It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim. For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah.”

Sudan is currently the site of the world's largest displacement crisis, with over 11.5 million people forced from their homes by three years of war. Nineteen million people urgently need food. Despite this, Sudan remains one of the most underfunded humanitarian emergencies globally. Your Qurbani reaches families facing genuine starvation, people for whom Eid meat is not a celebration but a lifeline.
A Qurbani share in Sudan costs $290 through Human Appeal Canada. This covers the complete cost of the animal, slaughter, butchering, packaging, and distribution to beneficiary families. There are no additional charges.
One $290 share feeds about 7 families, each receiving 3–4kg of fresh halal meat. One share equals 1/7 of a cow, and the full yield is distributed across multiple vulnerable households selected on the basis of need.
Human Appeal distributes Qurbani meat in the Blue Nile region of Sudan — one of the most food-insecure areas in the country, where communities face extreme poverty compounded by ongoing conflict and displacement.
Yes. All sacrifices are conducted by qualified butchers under the oversight of local Imams and Islamic scholars, in full accordance with Sharia guidelines. Human Appeal has maintained this standard across its entire global Qurbani program for 35 years.
Sacrifices are carried out between the 10th and 13th of Dhul Hijjah, beginning after the Eid prayer. Human Appeal pre-purchases animals in advance, so your Qurbani will be performed on time regardless of when you donate within the giving window.
Yes. You can donate multiple shares. Many donors choose to give additional shares on behalf of deceased parents, family members, or the Prophet ﷺ and the Ummah. Each additional $50 reached another group of families this Eid.
They refer to the same act. Qurbani is the term commonly used in South Asia and across the wider Muslim world, while Udhiya is the classical Arabic term. Both refer to the sacrifice performed during the days of Dhul Hijjah.
Human Appeal has an established presence and operational network in Sudan built over many years. Our teams navigate the security environment carefully, working with trusted local partners to ensure meat reaches beneficiary families safely. In 2025, we successfully reached over 183,800 people in Sudan despite the extremely difficult conditions.
Every year our team in the field endeavours to ensure your Qurbani is distributed on your behalf in the country you selected. However, in cases where it is no longer possible in the country of your choice due to factors beyond our control, we will ensure it is delivered within the Eid days, to those who need it most in the next nearest country.
