Our 2025 Qurbani Impact in Yemen
Last Dhul Hijjah, Human Appeal reached over 138,700 people with Qurbani meat in Yemen — delivered into an active conflict zone where logistics are dangerous and access is constantly restricted. Our teams have maintained a presence in Yemen throughout the war, meaning your sacrifice does not stop at the border.
Globally, 1.17 million people were reached across 20+ countries. Yemen remains one of our most critical and consistent distributions every Dhul Hijjah.

When the Messenger (PBUH) was asked what Qurbani is, he answered, “It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim. For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah.”
(Al-Tirmidhi)
Yemen has been at war for over a decade. More than 19 million people — over half the entire population — depend on humanitarian assistance to survive. Half of all children under five are malnourished. It is one of the world's worst humanitarian crises and one where your Qurbani has a direct, immediate impact on families facing famine.
A Qurbani share in Yemen costs $239 through Human Appeal Canada. Prices vary by country and reflect the local cost of livestock, logistics, and distribution. The $239 covers everything — the animal, slaughter, butchering, packaging, and distribution. There are no additional charges.
Qurbani prices reflect the real cost of delivering the sacrifice in each country. Yemen's decade-long conflict has severely disrupted supply chains, driven up animal prices, and made logistics significantly more complex and costly than in more stable regions. The higher price reflects the genuine cost of reaching families in one of the world's most difficult operating environments.
Your Qurbani share feeds multiple families, each receiving 3–4kg of fresh halal meat — goat or mutton, sourced locally and distributed on Eid to verified beneficiary households.
Human Appeal distributes Qurbani meat across Sana'a and Aden — areas where food prices have become unaffordable for the majority of the population and where our established operational presence allows us to reach the most vulnerable families.
Human Appeal has maintained an active presence in Yemen throughout the war. Our teams work with trusted local partners and navigate the security environment carefully to ensure Qurbani meat reaches beneficiary families safely. In 2025, we successfully reached over 138,700 people in Yemen.
Yes. All sacrifices are conducted by qualified butchers under the oversight of local Imams and Islamic scholars, in full accordance with Sharia guidelines — the same standard Human Appeal has upheld across 41 countries for 35 years.
They refer to the same act. Qurbani is the term commonly used in South Asia and across the wider Muslim world, while Udhiya is the classical Arabic term. Both refer to the sacrifice performed during the days of Dhul Hijjah.
Yes. Simply make your intention at the time of donation. Human Appeal will carry it through to completion in Yemen.
Sacrifices are carried out between the 10th and 13th of Dhul Hijjah, beginning after the Eid prayer. Human Appeal pre-purchases animals in advance so your Qurbani will be performed on time regardless of when you donate within the giving window.
Every year our team in the field endeavours to ensure your Qurbani is distributed on your behalf in the country you selected. However, in cases where it is no longer possible in the country of your choice due to factors beyond our control, we will ensure it is delivered within the Eid days, to those who need it most in the next nearest country.
